James graduated from the University of Florida in 1993 with a Bachelor degree in liberal arts and science, majoring in physics and minoring in mathematics. From the summer of 1997 until the Spring of '98, he participated in a volunteer study program at Schloss Mittersill in Austria. Upon returning to the States, James began studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, FL. There he met his wife, Stacy McGee. Both graduated in 2001 - James with a Master of Divinity, and Stacy with Masters in Theology and in Counseling.
James and Stacy moved to Gainesville, FL to begin an internship program at Creekside Community Church. James was asked to stay on as an interim assistant pastor from 2002-2004, and then came on 'permanently' as an assistant pastor in the summer of 2004. There the Lord blessed them with three boys (Luke, Wil, and Timothy), and a wonderful time in ministry with wonderful people.
However, God had placed church-planting on James' heart since before seminary, and in February of 2007, the Lord opened the door, and in partnership with Creekside and other EFCA churches, the Walden family moved to Columbia, SC to plant a new church. As of June 15, 2010, James became a member of Acts 29 Network.
